The National Maritime School (ENSM) in France has welcomed the first class of students to its new course that aims to train engineers in the specificities of marine renewable energies.
The ‘Deployment and maintenance of offshore systems’ course is expected to provide students with precise technical knowledge, together with general knowledge of the maritime sector, including that of environmental protection and risk management systems.
The course, being held in Nantes, specifically addresses the deployment of offshore installations, industrial maintenance, exploitation of marine renewable energies, production and transportation streamlining, offshore foundations and structures and more.
ENSM, which includes the National Marine Engineering Schools of Le Havre, Marseille, Nantes and Saint-Malo, started the course on September 29, 2016, one year ahead of schedule. The students will study two years to qualify as engineers.
This course was launched by ENSM in partnership with the major players in the region, including EDF-EN, STX France, DCNS, and GE.
