Semco Maritime, an international engineering company, has won a multi-million dollar contract to deliver communications systems and infrastructure for the production platforms at the Maersk Oil-operated Culzean field in the UK sector of the North Sea.

Semco Maritime said on Monday that this contract was awarded to the company by the Singapore-based yard Sembcorp Marine Offshore Platform.

The contract’s scope of work includes the integration and delivery of critical facility communications infrastructure. This includes Line Of Sight radio to the floating, storage and offloading (FSO) facility, satellite communication, structured cabling or fiber optics, telephone, public address and a general alarm (PA/GA).

Also, the contract includes an Entertainment System, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system, People on board (POB) & Access Control (ACS), Meteorological systems, Radio systems, Telecom Monitoring Systems (TMS) and Radar systems.

The company said that the project team comprises staff from Denmark and Singapore, who will be working together throughout the project execution stage.

Senior Vice President Henrik Lunde , the head of Semco Maritime Products & Technology Division, said: “This project demonstrates Semco Maritime’s ability to deliver proven, reliable and cost-effective communications solutions to hydrocarbon-based offshore operations.”

The overall Culzean development concept consists of a wellhead platform, a central processing facility platform, and separate utilities and living quarter platform with capacity for over 100 people. The platforms will be linked via two bridges approximately 100 meters in length. First gas is currently expected in 2019.

The field was discovered in 2008, approximately 250 kilometers east of Aberdeen in license block 22/25a, and the field development was approved in August 2015. Maersk Oil’s partners in the field are JX Nippon and Britoil, a subsidiary of BP.
