Specialist Aviation Services (SAS) and Leonardo-Finmeccanica have signed a framework agreement for six AgustaWestland AW169 helicopters during this week’s Helitech International in Amsterdam.

The aircraft are planned to be delivered between 2017 and 2019 and will be used to expand SAS emergency services operations across the UK and to enter the rapidly growing offshore wind farm support market, SAS said.

This latest agreement will bring the total number of AW169s operated and maintained by SAS to over twelve aircraft.

This is the second order Leonardo received this week for AW169 helicopters which will be used for offshore wind operations

The first contract was signed with Germany’s HeliService International for one AW169 which, once delivered in 2017, will be used for offshore wind farm support missions in the North Sea.
