The video shows the installation of Scotrenewables Tidal Power’s SR2000 floating tidal energy device that was conducted last week at EMEC’s grid-connected tidal testing site at the Fall of Warness, Orkney.

The 2MW tidal turbine was towed to the site by Green Marine’s Green Isle multipurpose vessel on October 12 where it was connected to its moorings later that day for testing purposes.

The 550 tonne SR2000 tidal turbine consists of a 64 m floating hull that incorporates two 1 MW rotors mounted on retractable legs.

The device uses a mooring system that allows the tidal generator to weathervane about the mooring point to maintain a heading into the tidal stream to maximize power generation efficiency.
