Minesto fortifies its patents
The European Patent Office has granted the Swedish tidal energy developer, Minesto, a European patent for the primary patent family covering the company’s core technology. After the European patent is granted in November, according to Minesto, the primary patent family covering its core technology Deep Green will comprise 15 key markets worldwide.
AWS, Trident Energy team up for WEC optimization
AWS and Trident Energy will work together to optimize the design of the Archimedes Waveswing wave energy converter. Under the memorandum of understanding, signed by the two parties, the improved Archimedes Waveswing WEC will be fitted with Trident Energy’s optimized PowerPod II direct drive linear generator technology.
WES buys Aquamarine Power IP
Wave Energy Scotland (WES) has bought the intellectual property of the failed wave energy developer Aquamarine Power. The purchase of Aquamarine Power’s intellectual property (IP) was completed in September for £45,000, WES informed. The IP assets acquired by WES include patents, designs, drawings and organisational information.
MPS bags Innovate UK funding for next-gen WaveSub
Marine Power Systems (MPS), a Swansea-based wave energy developer, has received £200,000 from Innovate UK to develop next-generation WaveSub wave energy device. The 12-month project to deliver the modelling, design, build, test and validation of MPS’ next-generation WaveSub will run in partnership with the University of Bath.
Bardot Group to construct OTEC plant in Maldives
Bardot Group, a French company specialized in subsea engineering and equipment manufacturing for offshore energy, has signed a contract to install an ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) system in an eco-resort in the Maldives. The eco-resort is being developed in a South Maldivian archipelago, a few hundred kilometers from the capital city of Male.
