ALE concludes Ichthys LNG onshore plant work

ALE said on Monday it has completed the scope of work at the Ichthys project onshore LNG facilities in Darwin, Australia.

ALE said on Monday it has completed the scope of work at the Ichthys project onshore LNG facilities in Darwin, Australia.

The company was contracted by JKC Australia to load-out 178 pre-fabricated modules from a range of heavy lift vessels, and according to the company it was the first time it has deployed the Hydro Deck.

The modules varied in weight and size, ALE said with the heaviest cargo the project team transferred weighing in at 1,821 tons. The longest module measured at 73 meters.

The combined total weight of the transferred modules was 41,612 tons, ALE said.

The US$34 billion, Inpex-operated Ichthys project is scheduled to start production by the third quarter of 2017, and is set to have an annual LNG production capacity 8.9 mtpa.

The project is a joint venture between Inpex, major partner Total, Taiwan’s CPC Corporation and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.
