Huisman, a lifting, drilling and subsea solutions specialist, has secured a contract for the delivery a Pedestal Mounted Offshore Crane (PMOC) for the Sleipnir SSCV being built in Singapore.
Huisman said on Monday that Jurong Shipyard ordered a 100-tonne PMOC which will be installed onboard Heerema’s new generation semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV) Sleipnir currently being built at the shipyard.
The ordered PMOC crane will function as an auxiliary crane for the two 10,000-tonne tub cranes onboard, which were also designed and constructed by Huisman.
Upon completion, Sleipnir will become the world’s largest crane vessel, at 220 meters long and 102 meters wide and will be used for offshore construction and heavy lifting.
Huisman CEO, Joop Roodenburg , said: “The 100-tonne PMOC further completes the set of cranes we are delivering for the Sleipnir and represents our large variety of cranes.”
In addition, Huisman received an order from Japan Marine United Corporation for an 800-tonne PMC for a newbuild vessel that will be used for offshore wind turbine installation.
The second crane, ordered by Japan Marine United, is the largest Huisman-built Pedestal Mounted Crane to date with over 3,000 kN/m of torque and will be installed onboard a newbuild vessel designed by GustoMSC for Penta-Ocean Construction.
The company said that both cranes will be built at Huisman China. The PMOC will be delivered in March 2018 and the PMC in April 2018.
