Skangas, a unit of Gasum, said the Furetank Rederi’s product tanker Fure West bunkered chilled fuel at the LNG terminal in the port of Risavika near Stavanger.
Fure West has been retrofitted to run on liquefied natural gas and is the first vessel within the Gothia Tanker Alliance with a dual-fuel engine. It is the first full bunkering of the vessel since its conversion, Skangas said in a statement on Tuesday.
The alliance recently ordered two more LNG-fueled vessels at Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding, increasing its order to a total of six vessels scheduled for delivery in 2018 and 2019.
Skangas added that by the summer of 2017, it will operate the Coralius, a bunkering vessel with the capacity of 5,800-cbm, designed for ship-to-ship bunkering in icy conditions.
Furetank Rederi, the owner of the vessel has also recently entered into an agreement with Bomin Linde LNG for long-term cooperation on LNG supply in the Baltic Sea region, under which Bomin Linde LNG will supply the Furetank Rederi vessels using its new liquefied natural gas bunkering vessel, while in port and at sea.
