The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dredge CURRITUCK will be in Ocean City Inlet this weekend for the maintenance dredging works.
According to USACE, the dredge will be working in the inlet over the weekend, targeting shoaling hot spots as part of the Corps’ ongoing efforts to maintain safe navigation in the channel.
The dredging will remove approximately 5,000 cubic yards of material between buoys 11 and 12 as well as near the Coast Guard station and seawall between buoys 8 and 10.
The work is separate from the scheduled sand removal that will take place later this month. The dredge Murden is set to remove material from in and around the channel, with an emphasis on the ebb and flood shoals in which sand is traditionally trapped while naturally moving south toward Assateague Island.
That work is expected to take about 30 days.
