Olympic Ares, a multipurpose vessel supplied by subsea services provider Bibby Offshore, is currently being used for the installation of MeyGen tidal turbines in the Pentland Firth, off Scotland.
The 115-meter long Olympic Ares vessel, equipped with a 250te AHC Knuckle Boom crane, was selected for the project due to its ability to work in challenging conditions, Bibby Offshore said.
The vessel transported the first turbine to the MeyGen project site on November 6, and another one yesterday, November 10, according to Atlantis Resource’s social media.
Bibby Offshore informed that its remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) will also be utilized on the project.

Atlantis Resources has recently completed the installation of the foundations for the turbines, and has subsequently begun with the deployment of the turbines as part of the Phase 1A of the project.
The Phase 1A will see the installation of four tidal turbines with the combined output of 6MW.
