Furetank Rederi said that its LNG-fueled product tanker Fure West bunkered liquefied natural gas for the first time in the port of Amsterdam.
The Fure West has been retrofitted to run on liquefied natural gas and is the first vessel within the Gothia Tanker Alliance with a dual-fuel engine.
Lars Höglund , CEO of Furetank noted that, the conversion of the vessel was the company’s first step in being part of the future of shipping while the second step came in the shape of ordering three new vessels, all running on LNG.
Furetank Rederi has also recently entered into an agreement with Bomin Linde LNG for long-term cooperation on LNG supply in the Baltic Sea region, under which Bomin Linde LNG will supply the Furetank Rederi vessels using its new liquefied natural gas bunkering vessel, while in port and at sea.
In its brief statement through the social media channels, Titan LNG, the supplier of liquefied natural gas to marine and industrial markets in northwest Europe, informed that it conducted the first-ever truck-to-ship LNG bunkering of a seagoing vessel in the port of Amsterdam.
