Nakilat of Qatar said on Thursday it has taken over full ship management and operations of Q-Max LNG carrier Al Ghuwairiya from Shell’s trading and shipping unit.

Al Ghuwairiya is the fourth Q-Max LNG tanker that will come under the management of Nakilat as part of the planned transition with Shell Trading and Shipping Company (STASCo) revealed in October this year.

This brings the total number of vessels managed by Nakilat Shipping Qatar Ltd. (NSQL) to 12, comprising of 8 LNG and 4 LPG carriers.

The 263,300-cbm Al Ghuwairiya is wholly-owned by Nakilat and chartered by the world’s largest LNG producer, Qatargas.

The vessel was built in South Korea by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering. It was delivered to Nakilat in December 2008.
