The Europe Technologies Group, said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Shipbuilding and Repair Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago to repair LNG carrier membrane containment systems.

The two companies aim to provide both project management and personnel in cooperation with the shipowners, the shipyard, the technology owner, the classification company and other service providers, Europe Technologies said in its statement.

In 2013, Europe Technologies has been granted a Technical Service Agreement from France’s LNG containment specialist GTT, for repairing and maintenance of membrane containment systems.

Trinidad and Tobago, the world’s sixth largest LNG exporter, recently shipped its 3000th cargo of liquefied natural gas since exports began in 1999.

Europe Technologies states that two recent developments have boosted demand for LNG carrier repairs in the Atlantic basin, namely the expansion of the Panama Canal and the start of LNG exports from the United States.
