Peru’s only liquefaction facility at Pampa Melchorita dispatched two cargoes last week to Asia.
The cargo loaded on December 7 aboard the 2007-built Methane Nile Eagle with the capacity to transport 145,598 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas. Perupetro’s shipping data shows the vessel set course for Japan without confirming the exact destination.
The second vessel, the 2014-built Palu LNG with the capacity to transport 160,004 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas departed the Peruvian facility on December 10 and headed for South Korea.
It is the second cargo Peru shipped to South Korea in 2016, with the last one dispatched on February 21 landing at the Tongyeong LNG terminal
With the two latest cargos, Peru’s LNG export facility shipped 370 vessels in total, since it started operations in June 2010.
The 4.45 million tons per year gas liquefaction plant is located 170 kilometers south of Lima and receives gas via a 408-kilometer pipeline built across the Andes.
