Canada-based Cellula Robotics said it has completed factory acceptance testing of its CRD100 seafloor drill for Fukada Salvage & Marine Works and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC).
This is Cellula’s third seafloor drill for the same client.
The CRD100 is designed to operate in waters down to 3000 meters depth for geotechnical surveys, mineral exploration and methane gas hydrates sampling.
The drill underwent factory acceptance testing at Cellula’s Burnaby facility as well as in local waters, the company noted.
Sea trials should take place in February, 2017.
