Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has carried out an audit of the design engineering of the steel jackets for the two facilities at Johan Sverdrup field.

Johan Sverdrup field, located in the North Sea, approximately 155 kilometers west of Karmøy in Rogaland county, is operated by Statoil.

The first construction phase of the development consists of four bridge-linked facilities for accommodation, processing, drilling and risers. The riser facility has been designed to receive electrical power from onshore.

The PSA carried out an audit concerning the design engineering of the steel jackets for the drilling platform (DP) and the riser platform (RP).

The audit took place in week 39 at Kværner Verdal, which is responsible for the fabrication of the jackets, and in week 48 at Drydocks World in Dubai, which is subcontracted to Kværner, PSA informed.

No non-conformities were detected during this audit.

However, an improvement point was identified connected with the formalization of learning. Statoil has been requested to provide feedback on its assessment of the improvement point by February 01, 2017.
