A photo posted by Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) on social media shows roll up activities at the company’s Vlissingen facility in the Netherlands.
According to Heerema, one side of the jacket for the Culzean central processing facilities (CPF) has been lifted in the upright position.
The CPF jacket is the second one being produced for Culzean by HFG after the completed wellhead platform jacket sailed away towards the North Sea in April. The wellhead jacket and the wellhead access deck were placed on location in May .
Maersk Oil, the operator of the Culzean field in the UK North Sea, recently started drilling of the first production well on the field.
The well, drilled by the Maersk Highlander jack-up rig, was spudded on September 28 and is the first of six production wells to be drilled on the high pressure/high temperature (HPHT) field, with continuous drilling activity planned over the next five years. First gas is currently expected in 2019.
Maersk Oil’s overall Culzean development concept consists of a wellhead platform, a central processing facility platform, and separate utilities and living quarter platform with capacity for over 100 people. The platforms will be linked via two bridges approximately 100 meters in length.
Culzean is considered as the largest hydrocarbon discovery in the UK North Sea for over a decade. The field is approximately 233 kilometers east of Aberdeen and is expected to produce between 60,000 – 90,000 boepd at plateau production, producing for at least 13 years. The project was sanctioned in August 2015.
Also, Maersk said last week that the company was able to decrease investment costs for the Culzean development by $500 million. The company estimated that the reduction put the investment costs for the project at around $4 billion.
