Wind turbine maker Ming Yang Wind Power and the energy company China Three Gorges Group have signed a new agreement to cooperate on offshore wind projects in Guangdong, China’s province on the South China Sea coast.

The two companies will team up to establish an offshore wind industry cluster in the region, Ming Yang said.

According to the agreement, the Three Gorges Group awarded Ming Yang with a preferential supplier status for their future projects in Guangdong.

The signing of the agreement was attended by representatives of local authorities who pledged support to future offshore wind projects in the region.

This is the second time the two companies have entered into a partnership to develop offshore wind industry in Guangdong.

In 2011, the two companies signed a similar agreement which also gave Ming Yang a preferential supplier status in China Three Gorges’ wind power projects in Guangdong.
