Fosmax LNG informed that it carried out a gassing up operation of an LNG carrier at the Fos Cavaou liquefied natural gas terminal at the beginning of January.

According to Fosmax LNG, a unit of Elengy, an Engie company, the 19-hour operation was the first commercial gassing up operation at the terminal located on the Mediterranean coast, 50 km west of Marseille in Fos-sur-Mer.

The operation was followed by the cooling down operation, with Fosmax LNG not disclosing the name of the vessel.

The Fos Cavaou LNG terminal has a storage capacity of 330,000 cubic meters and an 8.25 billion cubic feet per year regasification capacity, covering approximately six percent of France’s total natural gas consumption. It is capable of receiving LNG carriers with the capacity to transport up to 270,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas.

Additionally, the terminal provides gassing-up, cooling down, reloading and transshipment services.
