Babcock Mission Critical Services (MCS) has signed a five-year contract with DONG Energy to provide helicopter support for the Walney Extension wind farm.
The multi-million pound contract will commence in 2018, when the offshore wind farm is scheduled to become operational, when Babcock will start transporting personnel and cargo to and from the wind farm with its H135/EC135 T3 aircraft.
The 660MW Walney Extension OWF is located approximately 19 kilometres off the west coast of England, next to the 367.2MW Walney offshore wind farm. The wind farm will consist of 40 8MW MHI Vestas and 47 7MW Siemens wind turbines.
In 2014, the Babcock International Group purchased Bond Air Services, which has supported Great Gabbard offshore wind farm.
