US-based crude oil shipping company Gener8 Maritime has taken delivery of the ECO very large crude carrier (VLCC) Gener8 Hector from Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Philippines, Inc.
Gener8 Hector, which was delivered on January 6, 2017, represents the nineteenth of 21 ECO VLCCs expected to be delivered into Gener8 Maritime’s fleet.
Upon delivery, the Gener8 Hector entered Navig8 Group’s VL8 Pool.
In late November 2016, the company expanded its fleet with the eighteenth VLCC from the batch, Gener8 Theseus , which also entered the VL8 Pool upon delivery.
As of January 12, 2017, Gener8 Maritime has a fleet of 42 wholly-owned vessels comprised of 26 VLCCs, including 2 newbuildings, 10 Suezmaxes, four Aframaxes, and two Panamax tankers.
On a fully-delivered basis, the company’s fleet has a total carrying capacity of 10 million dwt with an average age of less than 6 years.
