The 42-metre long substation jacket for the Rampion offshore wind farm has been installed at the offshore site and is ready to receive the near 2000 tonne topside structure, which is due to load out from Babcock’s Firth of Forth facility in 2017.
The two-year Rampion contract for Babcock International involves the engineering, procurement and onshore construction of the 400MW substation topside and a 1,100 tonne jacket, managed by a specialist team at Rosyth.
The current phase of the project sees Rampion’s electrical contractor installing and commissioning the transmission equipment prior to the site integration test.
