Western Link subsea power cable has come ashore in North Ayrshire, ScottishPower informed.
The Western Link project consists of installing two 600 kV DC submarine cables in the Irish Sea from Ardneil (Scotland) to Wirral (England).
The cable has a total length of about 387 kilometers.
The £1 billion project, being built by National Grid and ScottishPower, will help to bring renewable energy from Scotland to homes and businesses in Wales and England.
Construction of the Western Link is being carried out by a consortium of Siemens and Prysmian.
The cable laying operations are conducted by the cable laying vessel Giulio Verne and support vessel Go Pegasus.
