In today’s spotted we bring you an image of El Coquí and Taíno, Crowley Maritime Corporation’s two liquefied natural gas (LNG) -powered combination container and roll-on/roll-off (ConRo) ships , which continue taking shape at VT Halter Marine shipyard in Pascagoula.
Crowley said that workers are painting El Coquí as the ships are constructed side by side.
Once completed, each of the 26,500 dwt ConRo vessels will feature a length of 219.5 meters and a width of 32.3 meters.
El Coqui is scheduled for delivery in July 2017 and Taíno in January 2018, according to data provided by VesselsValue.
The company is building the new vessels as part of a USD 500 million investment in the trade between the US mainland and Puerto Rico.
The ships will serve the US Jones Act trade between Jacksonville, Florida, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
