Aalborg University (AAU) and École Centrale de Nantes are working on the organisation of the 2017 edition of their PhD course in Wave Energy Modelling that has been previously held during the European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference (EWTEC).

This year, the PhD Course is likely to be held together with the EU INORE Symposium and EWTEC, both taking place in Ireland.

In 2016, the Wave Energy Research Group at Aalborg University held a PhD course in Aalborg, Denmark. The course covered general introduction; experimental modelling and testing; theoretical approach to advanced WEC control; and implementation of advanced WEC control in experimental models.

The work on developing wave energy converters (WECs) typically involves intensive laboratory model testing in wave tanks and/or flumes at the earlier stages, and intensive testing and monitoring of prototypes in real seas at later stages.
