Maran Gas Maritime, a unit of Greece’s Angelicoussis Shipping Group, has during the month of January taken delivery of two brand new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.
The Greek-flagged 174,000-cbm Maran Gas Ulysses was built and delivered at Hyundai Samho, a unit of South Korea’s shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The second vessel, named Maran Gas Roxana, has a capacity of 173.400-cbm and was built by the world’s second largest builder of LNG tankers, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).
Both of the vessels are equipped with a tri-fuel diesel-electric (TFDE) propulsion system.
With the latest additions, Maran Gas’ operational fleet consist of 25 LNG carriers.
The shipping company’s order book currently stands at 7 LNG vessels, according to its website.
Worth mentioning, Maran gas also recently ordered its first floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) marking its entrance into the floating LNG business.
DSME is to build a 173,400-cbm FSRU for Maran Gas with an expected delivery window in the first half of 2020.
