UK-based tidal energy developer Current2Current has appointed Ben Walls as its new Technical Advisor.

Walls joins Current2Current bringing 30 years of experience with BP in the oil & gas industry in various subsea installation, and project operational and management roles, including those as a Subsea Specialist in hardware delivery and installation, and as a Global Project Manager for umbilicals and flexibles.

He has a Degree in Engineering from Cambridge University and is a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, Current2Current informed.

Current2Current is preparing to to deliver a pre-production 4 m diameter turbine, having recently completed the trials on its tidal prototype off west Scotland.

The company, headquartered in Aberdeenshire, has received a grant of £100,000 in September 2016 from the Scottish Enterprise to further develop its tidal energy technology.

Current2Current’s omni-directional converter works on the principle of redirecting the flow vertically through a shrouded turbine.
