Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) has posted a picture on social media on Tuesday showing the last row of the Culzean utility and living quarters (ULQ) jacket being put in an upright position at Heerema’s Vlissingen yard in the Netherlands.
Heerema added that this was the fourth successfully completed roll-up of the Culzean ULQ and central processing facility (CPF) jackets.
The ULQ and CPF jackets are the second and third jackets being produced for the Culzean development by HFG after the completed wellhead platform jacket sailed away towards the North Sea in April last year. The wellhead jacket and the wellhead access deck were placed on location in May , 2016.
Culzean
Culzean is considered as the largest hydrocarbon discovery in the UK North Sea for over a decade. The field is some 233 kilometers east of Aberdeen and is expected to produce between 60,000 – 90,000 boepd at plateau production, producing for at least 13 years. The project was sanctioned in August 2015.
Maersk Oil, the operator of the Culzean field in the UK North Sea, spud the first production well on the field on September 28, 2016, using the Maersk Highlander jack-up rig. It is the first of six production wells to be drilled on the high pressure/high temperature (HPHT) field, with continuous drilling activity planned over the next five years. First gas is currently expected in 2019.
The Culzean development concept consists of a wellhead platform, a central processing facility platform, and separate utilities and living quarter platform with capacity for over 100 people linked via two bridges around 100 meters in length.
The operator estimates that the project will cost around $4 billion after Maersk recently said it reduced costs by around $500 million.
