Portugal is set to receive a cargo from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG export terminal in Louisiana.
According to the shipping data by the port of Sines, the 162,000-cbm Clean Ocean LNG carrier is set to arrive at the REN-operated Sines terminal on February 13.
The Sines LNG terminal, that mostly receives cargoes from Nigeria, Algeria and Qatar, was the first European facility to receive an LNG cargo produced from the US shale gas in April last year.
It is expected that more US LNG will end up in Europe over the coming months as lower than usual temperatures have pushed the European natural gas prices up.
Portuguese facility has a nominal sendout capacity of 600,000 cubic meters per hour (5.26 bcm per year), with a peak capacity of 900,000 cubic meters per hour.
