Dredging operations on the Port of Puducherry entrance channel, undertaken by the Dredging Corporation of India Ltd (DCI), are moving ahead according to schedule, the company said in its latest release.

DCI’s new inland cutter suction dredger ID Ganga, which joined their dredging fleet in December 2016, has been mobilized for this work.

After initial preparations, the dredging work was formally inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister of Puducherry, V. Narayanasamy, on January 13, 2017.

According to the latest announcement, DCI has removed about 60,000 of material from these areas so far. The Puducherry dredging program is scheduled to last 4 months, DCI said.

Shri. Rajesh Tripathi, Chairman and Managing Director of DCI, toured the Puducherry dredging project yesterday to inspect the progress made on this cleanup scheme and to get first-hand information.
