French LNG containment specialist GTT received an order from Hyundai Heavy Industries to equip a new FSRU with its Mark III cryogenic membrane containment system.
GTT said the order includes a firm vessel and one option, with the delivery scheduled for March 2019.
The FSRU of 170,000-cbm will be built at Hyundai’s shipyard, in Ulsan, South Korea, on behalf of a European shipowner.
The vessel will also be equipped with a dual fuel diesel engine motorization like a standard LNG carrier.
GTT noted that the trend of building versatile floating units is growing, as floating terminals can also operate as LNG carriers under short-term contracts.
There are currently 16 FSRUs in service which are able to operate as both transportation and regasification vessels, GTT said.
