Jan De Nul, a Luxembourg based company involved in construction and maintenance of maritime infrastructure worldwide, has purchased its first Hitachi wheel loader.

The ZW310-6 is being utilized for general material handling tasks at a soil treatment center in Liège, Belgium, Hitachi said.

Compared with the previous model, the ZW310-6 works with greater fuel efficiency and reduced running costs, thanks to the lock-up transmission and Stage IV-compliant engine.

Specializing in dredging and marine construction activities, Jan De Nul is also active in the offshore industry, notably in oil, gas and renewable energy. Its environmental subsidiary, Envisan, is operating the four-hectare site in Liège, which treats over 150,000 tonnes of material annually.

Envisan has grouped its activities in three fields of environmental technology:

The ZW310-6 works at the heart of the activity at the Liège site, and is mainly used for moving piles of decontaminated particulate in a central warehouse.
