The Environment Agency today released an update on the Marlow flood alleviation scheme.

The Marlow scheme will reduce the impact of flooding to 287 properties during a flood with a 1.33% annual probability of flooding (also known as a 1 in 75 year standard of protection).

The design of the scheme includes construction of raised walls and earth embankments, mainly around Pound Lane and Firview Close/Gossmore Lane.

EA has already completed work to raise the road at Gossmore Lane. The Environment Agency started work in September 2016 at the rear of 2 riverside properties. This work is now nearing completion with mainly reinstatement and landscaping to finish during February 2017.

The Environment Agency is currently carrying out tree and shrub clearance works in the Lower Pound Lane area to provide access routes and construction areas for the next phase of works. The main construction contract to complete the scheme is due to start in spring 2017.
