Offspring International (OIL), has signed a global agency agreement with valve actuator and control systems supplier, Paladon Systems, for its autonomous shutdown valve (ASV) for pipeline end manifolds (PLEM).

According to the company, the ASV is designed to remove the reliance on or eliminate the need for a surface control umbilical or diver intervention.

The provider of integrated CALM buoy and conventional buoy mooring and offloading systems, OIL markets the ASV as a self-contained subsea package comprising PLEM valve, spring-return actuator and long-life, battery control system.

The deal with Paladon Systems will also see Offspring International offer a range of PLEM valve control systems operated from the surface or from shore to oil terminals.

Paladon Systems managing director, Brian Ennever , said: “Offspring International has extensive offshore and subsea experience, particularly with regards to single point mooring systems, and is therefore ideally suited to identifying applications for this unique subsea technology.”

Dave Rowley , director, Offspring International, said: “The autonomous shutdown valve offers increased system uptime compared to manually operated PLEM valves which require calm weather conditions and significant support. By widening the operating window for terminal operations, increasing safety and lowering operating costs.”
