Atlantis adds fourth turbine wrapping up MeyGen’s first phase
The fourth and final tidal turbine for the Phase 1A of the MeyGen tidal energy project has been deployed and energized at the project site in the Pentland Firth, Scotland. The AR1500 turbine system was designed under contract by Lockheed Martin. With the installation of this turbine, the first 6MW phase of the MeyGen project, which has a total planned build out of almost 400MW, has been completed.
Shetland Tidal Array goes full force
Nova Innovation has installed the third tidal turbine at the grid-connected Shetland Tidal Array, sited off Scotland. This will be the final Nova Innovation’s M100 tidal turbine to be added to the first phase of the Shetland tidal array. Each turbine installed at the Shetland Tidal Array has the capacity of 100kW.
Schottel, SME take on Asian tides
Schottel Hydro has deployed a floating tidal platform off Singapore, and through the partnership with Sustainable Marine Energy (SME) is looking to add another tidal demo project to the waters of South East Asia.
Tocardo kicks-off UK tidal project
Tocardo Tidal Power has started its planned 20-year commercial demonstration project at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney, UK. The InToTidal project was kicked-off with the arrival of Tocardo’s tidal system in Orkney ahead of deployment at EMEC.
Minesto joins forces with Stena Line for Deep Green roll-out
Minesto and Stena Line have signed an agreement to build a new assembly hall in Holyhead that will be used for Minesto’s Welsh tidal project. The assembly hall will be used for the upcoming roll-out of Deep Green tidal energy technology to be installed in Holyhead Deep, off the coast of North Wales.
