MeyGen tidal array project has won the Project of the Year award at the Green Innovation & Finance awards held last week.

The Project of the Year award recognizes the project with the biggest impact on furthering sustainable development through innovation without degrading the environment, either in the clean energy, water, transportation, land or property development or waste management sectors.

Atlantis Resources, the developer behind MeyGen, has recently installed the fourth tidal turbine to the array to the site in Pentland Firth, off Scotland, wrapping up the first 6MW phase of the project.

“The Meygen tidal project impressed the judges as a runaway winner in this category. The judges believe Meygen deserves respect for pushing boundaries, and for exploring the enormous potential of tidal power in an island where there is so much scope, like the UK,” it is stated on Green Innovation & Finance awards website.

The Green Innovation & Finance awards, established as a platform to connect and celebrate the most prominent entrepreneurs, innovators, financiers and advisers involved in renewable energy and cleantech sectors, were held in London on February 23, 2017.
