Australian LNG player Woodside signed an agreement with GE to join forces of boosting the use of LNG as fuel in Western Australia.
Speaking of the agreement, Woodside CEO Peter Coleman said the cooperation aims to develop the LNG fuel market in Western Australia.
Adding to that, Mary Hackett , regional director for GE Oil & Gas added that the “there is a pressing opportunity to develop the LNG fuel market as a transition fuel.”
Hackett said that businesses are continually under pressure to seek and adopt solutions that reduce their emissions footprint.
“Developing new fuel technology to power industries such as marine, transportation and mining is key,” she said.
Last week, Woodside welcomed a dual-fuelled supply vessel, the Siem Thiima, which is capable of running its engines on both LNG and diesel, to its fleet.
The Thiima will support Woodside-operated facilities offshore Dampier, Western Australia.
