Nautricity plans to begin with the installation of its CoRMaT tidal turbine at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in two days time.
Glasgow-based tidal energy developer, Nautricity, has engaged the services of First Marine Solutions for the installation of its CoRMAT tidal turbine and station keeping system.
The turbine is expected to be deployed at EMEC’s Fall of Warness tidal test site by the end of this month, starting from March 4, 2017.
The vessel which will be engaged in the installation operation is Olympic Challenger.
Nautricity’s CoRMaT is a contra-rotating turbine which uses two closely spaced dissimilar rotors, moving in opposite directions, to drive the rotor and rotating stator sections of an electrical generator. Station keeping is undertaken via a tensioned mooring system.
To remind, Nautricity was one of the ten ocean energy developers to receive support under the first call of the €11 million EU-funded FORESEA project.
