Wave Hub has launched a tender for a feasibility study for the wave energy site off the South Pembrokeshire coastline, Wales.
Marine energy demonstration site manager and operator, Wave Hub, is tendering for a study to check how feasible it is to develop the Pembrokeshire Demonstration Zone as a site for testing multiple large scale offshore renewable energy arrays.
The tender is divided into two lots, with the first involving a technical feasibility study, and the second a commercial viability study.
The contract value is set at £230,000, with April 5, 2017, as the due date for tender submission.
The Pembrokeshire Demonstration Zone comprises a 90 sq km area of seabed with water depths of approximately 50 meters and a wave resource of 19 kW/m, according to Wave Hub.
It is located between 13-21km offshore and has the potential to support the demonstration of wave arrays with a generating capacity of up to 30MW for each project.
