The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) is looking to appoint a Non-Executive Director to strengthen its Board for the next phase of development.

Established in 2003 as a test center for the evaluation, testing and demonstration of wave and tidal renewable energy technologies, the next phase of EMEC’s development will be to diversify into related areas of technology development and application, including storage and power networks.

In that regard, EMEC is seeking to appoint a new Non-Executive Director to drive the development of the center forward.

The candidate should have a proven track record in an appropriate field of engineering or R&D commercialization, EMEC said. The appointment will be for a period of 3 years, starting from July 1, 2017.

EMEC offers two full-scale grid connected test sites, including Billia Croo wave energy test site, and Fall of Warness tidal energy test site.

Also, the Orkney-based center operates two scale test sites where smaller scale devices, or those at an earlier stage in their development, can gain real sea experience in less challenging conditions than those experienced at the grid-connected wave and tidal test sites.
