Parc Eolien Offshore De Provence Grand Large, a subsidiary of EDF EN France, has invited tenders for geotechnical investigations and associated services for the 24MW Provence Grand Large floating offshore wind farm in the French part of the Mediterranean Sea.

The purpose of this contract is to achieve an offshore geotechnical investigation with a focus on suction anchor geotechnical design, which will consists of geotechnical samplings (drop/gravity piston cores), offshore in situ testings (piezo cone penetration tests PCPT) and associated services (laboratory testing, reports).

The contract has an expected duration of twelve months. The tender will remain open until 3 PM CET Tuesday, 14 March.

Located on the Faraman area off Marseille, the Provence Grand Large project will be undertaken in partnership with Siemens as the turbine supplier, and SBM Offshore in cooperation with IFP Energies Nouvelles (IFPEN) for the manufacture of the floating foundations and offshore work.

The wind farm will comprise three 8MW wind turbines installed some 17 kilometres off the Napoleon beach, in Port Saint Louis du Rhône.

The commissioning of the wind farm is expected in 2020.

The French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) approved the 24MW floater in November 2016.
