Government of Hong Kong SAR Marine Department has informed that, with immediate effect and for a period of approximately 5 months, submarine cable repair works will be carried out South of Sha Chau island.

The works will be carried out by one cable-laying barge, assisted by one flat top barge, one derrick barge, two guard boats and two tugboats. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

A working area of approximately 140 metres will be established around each barge. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights and radar reflectors will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the barges.

The work will be carried out from 07:00 to 19:00 hours.

Diving operations will be carried out from time to time during the hours of work.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep clear of the works area at slow speed, bearing in mind that there are divers working in the area, Marine Department noted.
