Minesto has selected Norwegian solid composite solutions provider Stangeland Glassfiber Produkter as a supplier of a bottom joint tether connection for Deep Green tidal plant.
Under the contract awarded on March 10, 2017, Stangeland Glassfiber Produkter will supply Minesto with a bottom joint tether connection comprised of super duplex stainless steel and glass fiber reinforced plastic.
Minesto’s Deep Green technology generates power when the water current creates a hydrodynamic lift force on the wing which pushes the kite, tethered trough a single mooring to the sea floor, forward.
Minesto plans to deploy a 500kW tidal power plant in Holyhead Deep, off Northern Wales, later this year.
The site will be eventually expanded to form a multi-megawatt tidal energy array.
