Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT), the French maker of LNG containment systems, has been selected by Hyundai Heavy Industries to equip a new LNG carrier with its Mark III Flex containment system.
HHI is constructing a 180,000-cbm LNG carrier for the Norwegian shipping company, Knutsen with the delivery scheduled for 2019.
Knutsen already has 10 vessels in operation equipped with membrane technology, GTT said in its statement.
GTT noted that this is the first LNG carrier order recorded in 2017. The company has so far this year been selected to provide containment technology for floating storage and regasification units (FSRU) from the three major South Korean shipyards, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).
