GATE Energy has acquired the eelReel Tool and associated IP and technology.

The eelReel Tool is an extended reach solution to clean plugged flowlines and pipelines. This coil tubing deployed tool has an extended reach close to 5 miles (8 kilometers).

BlueFin, a GATE Energy company, will deliver the field execution services of the tool in conjunction with its platform of proprietary chemicals, gel pigging technologies, mechanical cleaning and pigging tools for early intervention.

GATE’s flow engineering services will provide advanced modeling and evaluation for each job.

Karthik Annadorai , executive vice president of GATE Energy, said: “Pipeline and flowline blockages are a very costly and complex issue in subsea production worldwide. The addition of eelReel to the GATE toolbox aligns with our vision of providing turnkey solutions to clients that want to remediate plugged systems, or those that plan to avoid such situations. We are now positioned as best-in-class in subsea systems management, blockage mitigation and remediation. The original inventors are excited to be part of the GATE Energy family and this will ensure its success.”
