Ocean Networks Canada (ONC ) is one of 26 projects to be selected for funding through the Canadian Safety and Security Program (CSSP).
Government of Canada intends to invest $20 million in innovative solutions to enhance safety and security in Canada. The program is led by Defence Research and Development Canada, in partnership with Public Safety Canada.
An initiative of the University of Victoria, ONC, will develop a regional earthquake early warning system for southern British Columbia.
The new funding will support ONC’s ongoing work with Naomi Yamamoto , BC’s Minister of State for Emergency Preparedness, and Emergency Management BC to develop the system.
