The cable laying vessel Stemat Spirit is being loaded with the first batch of inter-array cables for the Galloper offshore wind farm at JDR Cable Systems’ facilities in Hartlepool.

The installation of the first of the 56 inter-array cables at the site some 30 kilometres off the coast of Suffolk is expected to start in April, according to Innogy Renewables UK, the developer of the 336MW project.

In September 2015, JDR was sub-contracted by VBMS (UK) Ltd to manufacture the inter-array cables for Galloper at its facilities in Hartlepool.

The installation of the 56 6MW Siemens turbines is expected to start in the early summer of 2017, and the GBP 1.5 billion wind farm is scheduled for commissioning in the first quarter of 2018.

innogy is leading the development and construction of the project on behalf of its partners, the UK Green Investment Bank, Siemens Financial Services and Macquarie Capital.
