FORESEA boosts 15 ocean energy developers
An €11 million EU-funded FORESEA initiative has backed 15 offshore renewable energy technologies following its second call for applications. The awards will provide a boost to technology developers by allowing them to test their technologies on the open sea, attract further investment, and move further along the path to commercialization.
MeyGen nears 400MWh of tidal power generation
Atlantis Resources has revealed that in the first three weeks of March, the average generation at MeyGen has been sufficient to power the equivalent of 1,250 UK homes.The power performance of the turbines at MeyGen has exceeded the contractual output guarantees, putting the project on track to achieve capacity factors in excess of 40%.
France plans 2017 tidal tender
The French government plans to open a tender for tidal energy projects off the regions of Normandy and Brittany later this year. The competitive dialogue procedure will be launched later in 2017, following the establishment of precise zones that would host projects from 50MW to 100MW.
Oceanera-Net launches €17 million ocean energy call
A new €17 million ocean energy call to support the development of ocean energy technologies has been launched by Scottish Enterprise on behalf of the Oceanera-Net Cofund project consortium. The fund will support collaborative research projects which demonstrate and validate ocean energy technologies.
GWave hires JFMS to support Wave Hub installation
James Fisher Marine Services has been selected to provide project engineering services for the installation of GWave’s wave energy device at Wave Hub. The work will be undertaken by JFMS’ Marine Projects division, previously Mojo Maritime, who will be on hand to assist in the delivery of the project set for 2018.
