Hydratight has unveiled its External Casing Cutter (ECC) and Internal-External Casing Cutter (IECC) tools to allow customers to work above and below wellheads.

The tools will be used in well completion activities by drilling contractors, decommissioning specialists, valve OEMs and service providers.

The ECC and the IECC are backed up by the company’s technical support.

Lotus Zhou , product marketing manager – Machining, said: “There is a strong drive in the oil and gas market for high quality, reliable tooling for work on wellheads. We’ve designed our new range for some of the most critical of subsea applications – wellhead completions.

“The ECC has the flexibility of five models, all compatible with our narrow body clamshell range. They are reduced weight and low profile, which will be attractive to our customer base.

“The all new IECC has pneumatic and hydraulic drive options and will cut to an internal depth of 50” (1270mm) from the wellhead flange.”

The ECC is equipped with a bi-directional drive, a low-profile motor and mount configuration, and can be inverted for flush mount applications. The drive motor can be adjusted if obstructions are present. It covers pipe sizes from 3.2” (114.3mm) to 32” (812.8mm).

The IECC attaches to Hydratight’s NB clamshell and can internally sever and bevel for a variety of applications. The tool’s spark-free cutters offer increased safety by eliminating the need for flame cutting.
