Marine Solutions provider Malin Group has been awarded a turnkey contract by Minesto to provide concept, design, fabrication and delivery of an offshore support platform for the Deep Green 500 tidal generator project at Holyhead Deep, off the coast of Anglesey, North Wales.

The offshore unit will provide the support platform for a Micro Grid System connected by a subsea umbilical to the tidal generator.

Graham Tait , managing director at Malin Group in Aberdeen, noted: “this contract utilises the full capability within Malin Group including in-house design, fabrication and transport to site. We look forward to working closely with our client Minesto on this interesting and challenging project.”

Captain Simon Mills , offshore operations manager at Minesto, said: “We are very pleased to work with Malin Group and with the cross-section of services that they provide. Given the way they have responded in the procurement process, with a flexible, supportive dialogue and well-resourced technical feedback, they certainly seem like a well-motivated and highly competent partner to Minesto.”
